Krystalkrete® Product Specifications
Description:
Krystalkrete® pool finishes are blends of enriched White Portland Cement and special Quartz aggregates. Krystalkrete® offers the pool builder an alternative to conventional pool finishes by using combinations of different Quartz sizes and colors as well as a variety of pigments. Krystalkrete® is available in many attractive colors, which allows the pool builder and homeowner limitless flexibility in tile and accessory selection. Although application and finishing techniques are not difficult to learn, Krystalkrete® is intended for use by the professional applicator.
Packaging
80-lb. Heavy-duty 3-ply paper bag with plyethylene moisture barrier liner
Coverage:
20 - 25 square feet per 80-lb. bag. The surface condition will have a direct relationship on the thickness of application and the corresponding coverage rate per bag.
Preparation:
Krystalkrete® should be applied to a sound surface free of oil, dirt, algae or any other foreign substance. Previously applied paints or sealers must be removed by acid washing and/or sandblasting. Neutralize acid with baking soda or soda ash then thoroughly rinse with water. In addition to, or in partial replacement of, the procedures mentioned above, CLI PermaKote™ can be used as a bonding coat. Re-finished pools must be undercut an appropriate distance around all tile, return lines, light fixtures and main drains. All weepers and plumbing leaks should be repaired at least 24 hours prior to plaster application.
Mixing:
1. Using standard mixing equipment, it is important to blend each batch for the same amount of time.

2. Mix Krystalkrete® with approximately 2 to 2 1/2 gallons of potable water per 80-lb. bag.

3. Start the mixing procedure by adding approximately 2/3 of the total water and Krystalkrete® requirements to the mixer, then add the balance of water.

4. Mix the completed batch for at least 8 minutes to ensure a proper blend of all ingredients.
Water Chemistry:
The pool water must be carefully balanced from the initial fill and constantly maintained within recommended NSPI guidelines. Maintaining proper chemical balance from first fill is essential to maximize the life of the pool surface. Please consult your CLI Product Service Representative concerning start-up techniques and maintenance programs.
